About me

Caricature of me by Mat Rich
I became interested in photography in the early 1950's and in 1955 joined the Kingswood Photographic Society. I became the Secretary in 1957, a position which I held for 43 years until resigning in 2000. I am currently the President.
Over the years I have been active within the Western Counties Photographic Federation eventually becoming President from 1990 - 1993.
Since 1960 I have lectured and judged extensively. I became a Licentiate of the Royal Photographic Society in 1980 and an Associate in 1990.
I was awarded the Distinction of the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain in 1999. In 2001 I was awarded a Fenton Medal for work with the Royal Photographic Society, and in 2002 the J.S.Lancester Medal by the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain for services to the PAGB and the Federations.
I was Chairman of the Licentiate Panel of the Royal Photographic Society from 2004 – 2010, having been a Panel member since 2001. As a member of the Digital Imaging Group of the RPS, I am currently the committee member handling Publicity also one of the Website Administrators.
Having been within the ranks of the United Photographic Postfolios for over 28 years, mainly in a small monochrome print circle. I joined DI.2 (A4) at it’s formation in 1997 and remain a member of 17/21 which is a monochrome small print circle. As Audio Visual is a fairly new medium for me, I decided to join a dedicated AV Circle. I first went into Circle 51 which unfortunately folded, and I am now in Circle 52
I now work exclusively in Digital photography, currently using a Canon EOS 400D and a Fuji Ixus 900Ti.
